Sitting darkly in the local cinema was a common occurence. During her excursion to watch a special showing of "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" she found her first human victim. She sat 2 rows behind the couple who engaged in sporadic conversation throughout the film.
The flirting between them reminded her of when Mother would curl her hair round her fingers when she spoke to the landlord after Daddy went away. She remembered their faces and the manner in which Mother would tilt her head, feining interest in every word Mr.Roberts uttered, and that absurd breathy voice she would try to tempt him with. If Mr. Roberts only knew...
And when she snapped back into her present circumstance, she knew immediately that 'Whispers' would be her next experiment. She smiled at the clever name she had given Test subject No. 2, knowing that she would have a new prize to enjoy that very night. There in the theater, as Bette Davis played the part of a twisted and torchered adult trying desperately to reclaim a lost childhood, she plotted.
It did not take long...the movie ended and 'Whispers' got up to leave the building.
